C scope

C.Scope Metal Detectors

In short. C.Scope metal detectors are built in Britain, they are simple, and they last. The range runs £199.99 to £775. The XD models are non motion and excel at pinpointing depth. The MXi models are motion machines for general searching. Most people want an MXi.

C.Scope has been making detectors and cable locators in Kent for decades, and the hobby machines inherit that industrial outlook. They are not the flashiest detectors on the market and they do not pretend to be. What you get is a machine you can still buy a coil for in ten years, from a company that answers the telephone.

People write the brand three different ways, so to be clear: C.Scope metal detectors, C Scope metal detectors and CScope metal detectors all mean the same Kent manufacturer. We stock the current range and hold coils and shafts for it.

The C.Scope Range

Starting out, £199.99The CS440XD is the entry point. Light, straightforward, and a genuine British made machine for the price of an import.
General searching, £275 to £400CS1MX £275, CS2MX £299.99 and the CS3MXiPRO £399.99. The CS3MXiPRO is the one most C.Scope owners settle on.
Non motion depth, £279 to £470CS770XD £279, CS990XD £360 and the CS1220XD £469.99. These hold a signal while stationary, which is what makes them good at judging depth.
Top of the range, £480 to £775CS4MXi £479.99 and the CS6MXi £775, with better discrimination and more depth in difficult ground.

Motion and Non Motion C.Scopes

MXi means motionThe coil has to keep moving for the machine to report a target. That is what you want for covering ground and for telling iron from silver before you dig. See our motion detectors.
XD means non motionThe signal holds while the coil is still, so you can judge how deep and how big a target is. Better for a single deep object, slower for general searching.
Which to buyAn MXi, almost always. The XD models are a specialist choice for people chasing deep caches rather than working a field over for coins.
Coils and sparesStandard C.Scope fittings, and we stock replacement coils and shafts. A ten year old C.Scope is still a repairable machine, which is not true of most cheap detectors.

C.Scope Questions, Answered

Are C.Scope metal detectors any good?

Yes, particularly if you value simplicity and longevity over features. They are quiet, stable in British soil, and repairable years later. If you want multi frequency and a colour screen, look at Nokta instead.

Where are C.Scope metal detectors made?

In Britain. C.Scope manufactures in Kent and has done for decades, alongside a professional cable and pipe locating business. That industrial side is why the hobby machines feel built rather than styled.

What is the difference between the XD and MXi models?

XD machines are non motion, so they hold a target signal while the coil is stationary and are good at judging depth. MXi machines are motion detectors for general searching, with discrimination that tells you what the target is likely to be. Most detectorists want an MXi.

Which C.Scope metal detector is best?

The CS6MXi at £775 is the flagship, but the CS3MXiPRO at £399.99 is where most owners end up. It has the depth and discrimination people actually use without the top model’s price.

Can you still get parts for old C.Scope detectors?

Usually yes, which is one of the reasons people buy them. Coils and shafts for current and recent models are stock items. Ring us with the model number before buying a used machine and we will tell you honestly whether it is still supportable.

Is a C.Scope good for beach detecting?

The CS4Pi, a pulse induction model, is the one for wet salt sand. The standard MXi and XD machines are fine on dry sand but will chatter on wet salt. See the beach detecting page for the full picture.

What does the CS3MX do that cheaper models do not?

It gives you proper two control discrimination and better depth in mineralised ground. In practice that means fewer wasted digs on iron and a few more inches on a deep coin.

Do C.Scope detectors come with a warranty?

Yes, a full manufacturer warranty handled through us as a UK dealer, so a fault is a phone call rather than an international shipping problem.
