Golden Mask

Golden Mask Detectors

In short. Golden Mask machines are built in Bulgaria and have a reputation among experienced detectorists for running quiet in ground that makes other detectors chatter. The range starts at £599.99 and reaches the Deep Hunter pulse induction machines.

These are not beginner detectors and they do not try to be. Golden Mask sells on signal quality and depth in difficult soil, which is exactly what you start to care about after a season or two of digging iron. If you want your first machine, look at our beginner range instead.

The Range

Golden Mask 7, £599.99The GM7 is the one most people buy. Wireless headphones, a light build and a genuinely quiet threshold in mineralised ground.
Golden Mask 4 Xtreme, £649.99The 4 Xtreme is the deep coin machine of the range, favoured on worked out pasture where the easy finds have gone.
Deep Hunter Pro3 SE, £1,299The Pro3 SE is a pulse induction machine built for depth on larger targets, and it ignores mineralisation almost entirely.
Also stockedThe Deep Hunter Mobile and the Deep Hunter Pro3. Prices on these move, so ring us for current figures.

What They Do Well

Quiet in bad groundThe thing owners mention first. A stable threshold in iron rich clay means you hear the faint deep signals you would otherwise lose in chatter.
Light for the depthWell balanced on the shaft, which matters a great deal by the third hour of a rally.
Coils you can actually buyA proper range of Golden Mask fitting coils from £99, so you can tune the machine to the site rather than buy another detector.
Pulse induction optionThe Deep Hunter machines give you a genuine salt and mineralisation proof option without leaving the brand. See PI detectors.

Golden Mask Questions, Answered

Are Golden Mask detectors any good?

Among experienced British detectorists they have a strong reputation, specifically for how quietly they run in mineralised soil. That is a less glamorous virtue than a colour screen, and it finds more.

Where are Golden Mask detectors made?

In Bulgaria. The company designs and builds its own machines and coils, which is why the coil fitting is specific to the brand.

Which Golden Mask should I buy?

The Golden Mask 7 at £599.99 for general coin and relic work, which is what most owners want. The 4 Xtreme at £649.99 if you are specifically chasing depth on worked pasture.

Is a Golden Mask suitable for a beginner?

It would work, but it is not the sensible first purchase. You are paying for signal quality you cannot yet hear. Start on our beginner range and come back when you can tell iron from silver by ear.

What is the difference between the GM7 and the Deep Hunter?

The GM7 is a conventional VLF machine that identifies targets before you dig. The Deep Hunter is pulse induction: much better depth on larger objects and immune to mineralisation, but it tells you far less about what the target is.

Can I use a Golden Mask on the beach?

The VLF machines are fine on dry sand and will struggle on wet salt. The Deep Hunter pulse induction machines handle wet salt sand properly. See our beach detecting page.

Do you stock Golden Mask coils and spares?

Yes, coils from £99 plus shafts and batteries, held in the UK. That matters with a specialist brand, because a machine you cannot get a coil for is not much use.
