C.Scope CS990XD Questions, Answered
How much is the C.Scope CS990XD?
£360. Within the non motion XD range it sits between the CS770XD at £279 and the CS1220XD at £469.99.
What does the meter add over audio alone?
The CS770XD below it gives you audio discrimination only. This adds a signal meter, so you get target information on screen as well as in the headphones. For anyone who wants to understand what the machine is doing rather than just react to it, that is the step up.
Is it hard to learn?
No. C.Scope built it so that anyone can be detecting like a professional with very little practice, and that is a fair description. The meter gives you a second opinion while you are still learning the tones.
What is the Inland and Beach switch?
One switch optimises the machine for either environment rather than requiring a tuning procedure. Dry sand and farmland behave differently, and this handles the change for you.
What does non motion give me?
You can sweep at any speed and the signal holds while the head is still, which makes pinpointing the exact target position straightforward. It is the meticulous way of detecting rather than the fast one.
What are the specifications?
Non motion at 17kHz, a lightweight 25cm ISOCON waterproof polo search head, about 30 hours of battery life and 1.57kg including batteries. EAN 5060086350197.
Why is it heavier than the CS770XD?
The larger 25cm head rather than the 20cm, which is also why it covers more ground per sweep. At 1.57kg against 1.153kg you will notice it on a long session, so it is a genuine trade rather than a free upgrade.
What is the guarantee?
Two plus three years: five years parts cover, two years parts and labour, handled through us as a UK dealer.
Can I use it on the beach?
Yes, that is what the Beach switch is for, and the 25cm search head is waterproof. Dry sand and the towel line are its natural ground. Wet salt sand defeats VLF machines generally, and our beach detecting page explains why and what to use instead.
Can I fit headphones?
Yes, a 6.3mm quarter inch headphone socket alongside the internal loudspeaker. With both audio and meter discrimination on this machine, hearing the tone clearly is half of how you read a target.
What does the push button retune do?
It re-centres the machine when the ground changes, at the press of a button rather than through a tuning procedure. On a non motion detector you retune more often than on a motion machine, so having it under your thumb matters.
How does it compare with the CS1220XD above it?
The CS1220XD at £469.99 adds a three mode operating system and Hot Control ground balance for genuinely difficult ground. The CS990XD gives you the audio and meter combination for £110 less, which covers most sites.
