Description
Pinpoint Your Treasures
The FORTUNA Pinpointer XELA is a handheld metal detector for finding small metal items. The Pinpointer simplifies the detection of coins, keys, wedding rings or even historical artifacts during treasure hunts and protects these objects from scratches and damage caused by excavation tools.

Metal detectors locate objects only very roughly, depending on the coil size. Even the pinpoint function of metal detectors does not locate small objects with pinpoint accuracy. Pinpointers like the Fortuna XELA are therefore indispensable for treasure hunters. By using the pinpointer, detectorists save time and energy when digging up finds. While the metal detector is swung over the object, the pinpointer finds small metal items fast and accurately.
To do this, the 360° detection tip of the Pinpointer is inserted directly into the excavation hole or the excavated material. As soon as a metal object is in the immediate vicinity of the tip, the Pinpointer triggers an audio and vibration alarm. The closer the pinpointer gets to the metal object, the faster the sound pulses or the stronger the vibration intensifies. Vibration and audio feedback can also be optionally turned off to match the search location or to extend battery life.

Built for Gold Hunting and Treasure Recovery
If you use a metal detector for gold, small nuggets and thin jewellery can be difficult to locate in loose soil. The Fortuna XELA increases sensitivity to small targets, making it an ideal companion for:
- Gold detector UK users
- Coin shooters
- Relic hunters
- Beach detectorists
- Archaeological fieldwork
This is not a replacement for your main metal detector. It is the precision tool that finishes the job.
Waterproof Metal Pinpointer Detector – Ready for Any Terrain
The Fortuna XELA is waterproof up to 5 metres (16.4 ft), making it suitable for:
- River detecting
- Shallow water searches
- Wet sand beaches
- Muddy ground conditions
Metal detecting often leads into challenging terrain. This metal pinpointer detector is built to handle it.

Fortuna XELA Questions, Answered
How much is the Fortuna XELA?
£299.99. That is six times the price of our Edge Pro Pointer at £49.95, so it is fair to ask what the difference buys, and we would rather answer that plainly than hope you do not notice.
Is a £300 pinpointer worth it over a £50 one?
For most detectorists, honestly no. The Edge Pro Pointer does the core job well. The Fortuna is a precision instrument with a 360 degree detection tip and finer control, which earns its money for people recovering delicate or valuable finds where a scratch matters. If you are digging modern coins, save the money.
What does the 360 degree tip change?
It detects all round the tip rather than mainly from the end, so you can probe the walls of a hole as well as the base. That shortens recovery on awkward targets caught in the side of a cut.
How does it alert?
Audio and vibration together, both intensifying as you close in: the sound pulses faster and the vibration strengthens. Either can be switched off to suit the location or to extend battery life.
Why does a pinpointer matter at all?
Because a detector locates only roughly, limited by coil size, and even its pinpoint function will not place a small object precisely. The pinpointer goes into the hole or the spoil and finds the object itself.
Does it protect finds from damage?
That is one of its stated purposes. Coins, rings and artefacts get scratched by digging tools, and the faster you locate something the less time a trowel spends near it. On historically significant finds that matters a great deal.
Is it good for gold prospecting?
It is built with small gold in mind, and small nuggets and thin jewellery are exactly what is hardest to recover once the ground is open. Pair it with a high frequency machine from our gold range.
Can I use it with any detector?
Yes. A pinpointer is an independent handheld instrument, so there is no compatibility question with your main machine whatever make it is.
