If you want to see under the ground rather than listen to it, the GR-3 is the cheapest credible way in. It is the same instrument as the GR-3 Plus in everything but depth, so the honest question is whether 7 metres covers your work. For most cache hunting and field archaeology in Britain it does, because anything deeper than that is rarely worth excavating by hand anyway.
The only difference is depth: 7 metres against 15, for £300. Processor, sensor, battery, weight, software and warranty are the same on both. Take the GR-3 Plus if you are surveying for deep structures or working ground where you already know targets sit below a few metres. Take the GR-3 if you are assessing sites, following footings and locating caches at ordinary depths, which covers most British work.
