Detectorists and treasure hunters familiar with OKM detectors know that the Rover UC is not just a metal detector with Magnetometer and Pinpointer: Rover UC is a 3D ground scanner. The integrated single-sensor technology allows to create high-resolution three-dimensional graphics of the subsurface.

OKM Rover UC Questions, Answered

How much is the OKM Rover UC?

£10,870. It is priced alongside the full size OKM scanners because you are paying for the same single sensor 3D technology in a form nobody will look at twice.

Why is it disguised as a trekking pole?

Because on a lot of sites, visibly carrying detection equipment changes how people treat you. The Rover UC looks like a walking stick, weighs 500 grams and folds to 67 centimetres, so it travels and works without drawing attention.

How is it controlled?

By an Android smartwatch supplied with it, which displays scan images directly on your wrist. That is what lets you work without a visible control box, and it means no computer is needed for initial measurements.

How deep has it detected?

Customers have found objects down to 20 metres, 65 feet, with this technology. As with every scanner that describes substantial targets in cooperative ground, not small objects.

What are the operating modes?

3D Ground Scan, Pinpointer and Magnetometer. The integrated single sensor technology is what produces the high resolution three dimensional graphics of the subsurface, which is the reason this is a scanner rather than just a concealed detector.

What else is built in?

Fitness activity tracking with a pedometer and heart rate monitor, and an integrated compass and GPS that can be switched off. It also ships with a pre configured notebook running Visualizer 3D Studio.

What can it detect?

Treasure chests, militaria, cavities and tunnels. OKM list treasure hunting, cavity detection, archaeology and militaria detection as the intended uses.

Is it genuinely usable by a beginner?

OKM say it suits beginners as well as advanced hunters, and the acoustic, haptic and visual feedback does make it approachable. The honest caveat is the price: at £10,870 most beginners would learn more from a £250 coil machine first.
